144 golfers compete for a prize fund of 100,000 USD in Da Nang
The BRG Open Golf Championship will take place from August 31 to September 2, at the BRG Da Nang Golf Resort designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus. The tournament brings together 144 golfers, of which 20 are nominated by the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA).
This year's bonus fund reached the milestone of USD 100,000, an increase of USD 25,000 compared to the opening period of 2022. But the organizers have not announced the reward level for the champion. Last year's tournament, champion Chen Guxin received a cup and a bonus of 13,125 USD - equivalent to 18% of the bonus fund as usual in international professional male arenas, such as PGA Tour, DP World Tour, majors.
Both periods of the BRG Open Golf Championship are in the schedule of the Asian Development Tour (ADT) - Asia's second-class golf arena. According to a representative of ADT, the governing body has determined that the BRG Open Golf Championship is a long-term project with the Da Nang government.
This year's tournament still follows the three-round stroke play format. Last year, Chen Guxin and Lloyd Jefferson Go both finished -8, then both played an extra hole with the victory belonging to Guxin. That victory has contributed to bringing Chinese golfers into the top 5 of the ADT season-end bonus table, thereby winning a full-time card on the Asian Tour - Asia's first-class arena this season.
Da Nang Golf Tourism Festival is assigned by the City People's Committee to the Department of Tourism to chair and organize in collaboration with VGS Group and Asian Development Tour.
The 2023 program, taking place from August 25 to September 2, will bring new experiences for golf visitors as well as opportunities for the public to access golf through activities such as exhibitions, tastings, and food. ... at the APEC park. Within the framework of the festival, there is also a workshop to assess the potential and propose solutions to gradually help Vietnam become a leading destination in the international golf tourism industry.
After hosting the Danang Golf Tourism Festival for the first time in 2022, golf tourism in the central central coastal city has grown significantly. Only in the first six months of 2023, local golf courses in the vicinity have served about 200,000 rounds of golf, equivalent to the whole year ago.
