AIMS expert: 'The VM Hanoi Midnight Runway is like a tour'

Last weekend, Kim Vivian - an expert from the International Marathon Association (AIMS) came to Hanoi, coordinated with the organizers to measure the route of the MetaSports Marathon Hanoi Midnight 2022. Starting at 5am, Experts feel that the route converges enough factors to attract domestic and foreign runners.

Four distances take the runner in turn to move through many famous landmarks, beautiful landscapes, good road quality and many surprises when racing. The highlight is West Lake, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Hoan Kiem Lake and the old streets. Mr. Kim called it "a fascinating tour" around the ancient capital.

"The first thing that impressed me was that the road was very beautiful and flat. The route had many turning points but interesting and some surprises waiting. Not only foreigners, I believe Vietnamese runners will find it attractive", Kim Vivian evaluate.

With this route, runners do not need to spend their energy in the first half like previous tournaments because the entire journey is flat. Matching conditions are suitable for setting up PR. "The only note is that runners need to eat full before 9pm and keep their body warm and charge enough electrolytes when racing because the night weather can be cold, making it easy for runners to forget to rehydrate," the expert shared.

After work, the days in Hanoi, Kim Vivian also had an unforgettable experience. He cycled from 5:30 and saw runners practice on the road. "I've never seen so many people exercising. They look so healthy and enjoying themselves," he said.

The city also scored points in the eyes of AIMS experts with small cafes on every street. Kim gives love and says she wants to drink coffee every day. He also suggested that visitors can drink coffee while eating a traditional Vietnamese dish such as pho, fried spring rolls. "This is a great duo to discover Vietnamese culture," commented the expert.

It is expected that MetaSports Marathon Hanoi Midnight will receive certification from AIMS a few days before the start. Runners can use the results of the race as part of the criteria to register for major marathon events in the world such as the Boston Marathon, Chicago Marathon or New York City Marathon. This year, runners Dong Dinh, Thu Trang, Hoang Huy, Dinh Linh, Minh Duc used the results at MetaSports Marathon as a condition to apply for a successful Boston Marathon.

MetaSports Marathon Hanoi Midnight will start in the middle of the night of November 26 and early morning of November 27. This is the first night running event held after two years of the epidemic, expected to attract more than 8,000 runners to participate. The tournament also closed the year of 2022 of the MetaSports Marathon system with 5 tournaments across the country, attracting about 45,000 participants.
