Alba suffers to reunite with Messi

Defender Jordi Alba turned down much better financial offers to join Inter Miami, where he played with former team-mate Lionel Messi.

"I've received much better offers financially, but my first priority is to feel valued. In addition, in Miami, I also reunited with Lionel Messi and Sergo Busquets," Alba said in Launching ceremony of Inter Miami on August 1.

The former Barca defender believes that with the available team and rookies like him, Messi, Busquets, Inter Miami will unite and win.

"I'm a very competitive player and the Inter Miami project is very familiar," Alba added. "That's why I decided to come here. I've only been here three or four days, but it feels like I've been here my whole life, and I think I made the right decision."

In June, Alba ended 11 years of continuous playing for Barca. His contract with the Camp Nou team expired, but refused to sign more. While Messi and Busquets joined Inter Miami in July, Alba made his debut later due to the birth of his son Paolo.

In their first two games for the new club, Messi and Busquets contributed to a 2-1 win over Cruz Azul and a 4-0 win over Atlanta United. According to the Spanish press, after leaving Barca, Alba received an offer with a salary of tens of millions of dollars a year from Saudi Arabian clubs. Messi also turned down a contract worth up to a billion dollars over two years of Al Hilal club.
