The petition called "France stop crying" was created by Argentine fan Valentin Gomez on Change.org. He wrote: "Ever since we won the 2022 World Cup final, the French have been crying. They complain and do not recognize Argentina as the world champion. This petition is aimed at calling on France to stop crying. and admitted that the best player in history is Messi, whose son is Mbappe."

In just a few hours, the petition received more than 65,000 signatures.

Argentina's third goal decision was invalidated as two substitutes ran into the field before Lionel Messi scored.

Regarding the reaction of French fans and media, referee Marciniak responded strongly. During a press conference on December 23, he held up his phone with a picture of seven French substitutes entering the field as Kylian Mbappe was about to score one of three goals in the final. "The French seem to have forgotten to mention this photo," insisted the Polish referee.

Previously, more than 270,000 French fans signed a petition on Les Lignes Bougent asking for a replay of the defeat to Switzerland in the 1/8 round of Euro 2021. According to them, goalkeeper Yann Sommer broke the law when he stepped out of the line. lime before pushing Mbappe's decisive penalty, helping Switzerland win 5-4.

In the final at Lusail Stadium, Qatar on December 18, Messi opened the scoring for Argentina from the 23rd minute penalty, when referee Marciniak thought that Ousmane Dembele had fouled Angel Di Maria. According to many French fans, the impact in this situation was very small and Di Maria took the initiative to fall. In the 36th minute, when Di Maria doubled the lead for Argentina, they also thought that the referee should have stopped the game because Mbappe was fouled by Cristian Romero in the opposite half.

Mbappe scored twice in the final 97 seconds of the second half to level the score for France. After Argentina once again took the lead in extra time thanks to Messi, the 24-year-old striker once again equalized on the penalty spot as Romero let his hand touch the ball in the penalty area. However, his efforts could not help France avoid defeat. The 2018 championship team lost 2-4 in the penalty shootout, before the excellence of goalkeeper Emi Martinez.
