Asian Development Tour competes in Da Nang this week
The tournament brings together 144 players, competing for a prize fund of 100,000 USD in the form of individual stroke play through three rounds of par72 golf course designed by legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus.
The qualifying cutoff point will be determined after two rounds according to the principle of taking top or T50. The champion of the tournament will receive a prize of 17,500 USD and a cup made from Chu Dau ceramics (Hai Duong) with a history of formation and development of 600 years.
The tournament list recognizes 22 outstanding faces in the domestic golf world as nominated by the Vietnam Golf Association. This number includes three national players including Nguyen Anh Minh, Nguyen Dang Minh, and Nguyen Nhat Long.
BRG Open Golf Championship belongs to the official competition system on ADT since its launch and is accompanied by the framework of Danang Golf Tourism Festival opening in 2022. This festival, with the highlight of BRG Open Golf Championship, It is expected to help spread the beautiful image of people, nature and scenery, attract golf lovers as well as international tourists, thereby contributing to the development of the golf tourism industry locally as well as in Vietnam.
According to a representative of ADT, the governing body has determined that the BRG Open Golf Championship is a long-term project with the Da Nang government.
ADT has been operating since 2010, as a stepping stone to the first-class arena of the Asian Tour, similar to the Korn Ferry Tour of the US PGA Tour or the Challenge Tour of the European DP World Tour. Since 2013, ADT tournaments are scored on the World Professional Ranking Table (OWGR). The history of this arena so far has recorded only Tran Le Duy Nhat as the Vietnamese national champion, at the Ciputra Golfpreneur Tournament 2015.
The program of Danang Golf Tourism Festival 2023 will take place from August 25 to September 2 with many activities to bring golf closer to the public such as testing, learning about specialized tools and services... at the park. APEC. Within the framework of the festival, there is also a workshop to assess the potential and propose solutions to help Vietnam become a leading destination in the international golf tourism industry.
After the first organization, golf tourism in the key coastal city in the Central region has grown significantly. In just the first six months of 2023, local golf courses in the surrounding area have served about 200,000 rounds of golf, equivalent to the entire previous year.
