Athletics at the 32nd SEA Games in Olympic standard 12 content

Individual events in the 32nd SEA Games athletics are not eligible for the 2024 Olympics.

The World Athletics Federation (IAAF) calculates Olympic standards for individual and short distance events in athletics from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024, while the 32nd SEA Games will be held from July 5. May 5 to May 17, 2023.

Therefore, only the following contents are counted as standard at the congress in Cambodia, including 10,000m (men, women), 4x100 relay (men, women), 4x400 (men, women), 20km walk (men, women) , marathon (men, women), triathlon (women) and ten triathlon (men).

The content of coordination, walking, relay and 10,000m is calculated from December 31, 2022 to June 30, 2024. Marathon is calculated from November 1, 2022 to April 30, 2024. Up to now, Vietnam has no qualified athletes.

Olympic standard for men's 10,000m is 27 minutes, women's is 30 minutes 40 seconds. Walking 20km is 1 hour 20 minutes 10 seconds for men, 1 hour 29 minutes 20 seconds for women. The men's marathon is 2 hours 8 minutes 10 seconds and the women's marathon is 2 hours 26 minutes 50 seconds.

The Vietnamese track and field team attended the 32nd SEA Games with the largest number of athletes - 54 people. The team will participate in 40 of 47 events and aim to win 14 to 18 gold medals to protect the number one spot. At the 31st SEA Games, Vietnamese athletics won 22 gold, 14 silver, and 8 bronze medals and ranked first, followed by Thailand with 12 gold, 11 silver and 8 bronze.

The Vietnamese sports delegation attended 446 events of 31 subjects, out of a total of 608 contents of 48 subjects and subjects. The number of participants is 1,003, including one team leader, two deputy delegations, 30 officials, 31 doctors, 38 team leaders, 10 experts, 189 coaches and 702 athletes. Aim to win between 89 and 120 gold medals to be in the top three. The delegation was led by Mr. Dang Ha Viet, Director of the General Department of Physical Education and Sports.

The delegation held a departure ceremony at the Hanoi National Sports Training Center on April 19, and went to Cambodia on May 3. U22 Vietnam is the earliest team to go to Cambodia from April 26.
