Bad play in the cross-Vietnam cycling tournament
When launching the sprint to the finish line 16 round Xuan Huong Lake (Da Lat), Van Binh (Ho Chi Minh City New Group) rushed up. At the same time, Tan Hoai (Loc Troi Group) was withdrawing and immediately changed direction, forced the steering wheel to the right and then elbowed, causing Van Binh to lose control and drifted close to the billboard. If he could not dodge people in time, the driver of Ho Chi Minh City crashed into the billboard.
The collision phase takes place at high speed, when the racers are sprinting. The impact from the collision caused Van Binh to fall behind and finish third, while Tuan Hoai ranked fourth. Petr Rikunov (Loc Troi Group) and Tran Tuan Kiet (Dopagan Dong Thap) shared the first two positions.
Coach Do Thanh Dat of Ho Chi Minh City reported about Tan Hoai's bad play, but the referee did not solve it. Even on the podium, Tan Hoai held the third prize, while Van Binh received the fourth prize, although the MC and the referee's results determined the opposite.
After the race, the referee reviewed the video and thought that there were not enough grounds to punish Tan Hoai. The referee only reminded the riders of Loc Troi Group that when withdrawing, they must follow the chosen withdrawal direction, to ensure the safety of the surrounding athletes.
Tan Hoai and Van Binh were competing for the second place of the final Blue Shirt award. After this stage, Van Binh has 104 points and is second, while Tan Hoai is third with 93 points. If punished, Tan Hoai may have both bonus points and bonus hours deducted.
Driver Le Nguyet Minh did not attend the race, but expressed frustration at the decision of the referees. "Obviously Tan Hoai is withdrawing straight but encroaching on someone else's lane. If there is no one in that lane, it's normal, but here Van Binh is trying to stop it. I was fined by the referee for this error." .
Before the dramatic developments at the finish line, the race team entered the stage this morning with the initiative of An Giang to protect the Yellow and Blue Shirts for Rikunov. As a result, some of the undisputed racers easily broke away to win two sprints. When nearing the finish line, Dong Thap racers actively worked as tractors to bring Tran Tuan Kiet back to the sprint. However, their efforts were unsuccessful because foreign soldier Rikunov was too strong, surpassed Tuan Kiet with a push to win the seventh race after 59 minutes and 29 seconds, with an average speed of 51,443 km/h.
With this result, the final titles remained unchanged as Rikunov still kept the Yellow and Blue Shirts. The orange shirt for the impressive Vietnamese racer still belongs to Nguyen Thang (Vinama Ho Chi Minh City). 18-year-old driver Xuan Loc still holds the title of White shirt for outstanding young athletes.
The team of Loc Troi Group ranked first as a teammate, second was Vinama Ho Chi Minh City and Domesco Dong Thap ranked third.
Tomorrow, April 21, stage 17 will take place from Da Lat city to Bao Loc city (Lam Dong) with a length of 97.5 km.
