Benzema scored a hat-trick to help Real beat Barca

Benzema became the first Real Madrid player to score a hat-trick at the Camp Nou in 60 years, since the legendary Ferenc Puskas. Three goals from the 36-year-old striker in 30 minutes in the second half helped Real beat Barca 4-1 on aggregate, to reach the final of the King's Cup of Spain against Osasuna. This is also the first time Real has beaten Barca by more than three goals since coach Pep Guardiola began coaching in 2008.
Benzema has scored 19 goals since the 2022 World Cup, the best by a player in Europe's top five leagues. It was the high performance of the 2022 Golden Ball that inspired Real to reverse the 0-1 loss in the first leg. Although it is only assessed to have a nearly 30% chance of winning, Real can do more than that against a team that won all five previous matches.
Benzema's hat-trick included a shot from the edge of the box, a penalty and a close-range kick in the face-to-face victory. He proved to be the player of the big game, when he also scored a hat-trick in two consecutive knockout rounds in the Champions League last season to help the home team win the reverse.
