Benzema scores hat-trick in seven minutes in La Liga

For the first time since his hat-trick against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League almost a year ago, Benzema has scored three goals in a single game. It took him just seven minutes to do this at the Bernabeu, with all three goals looking good. The 36-year-old striker rose to second in the top scorer race with 14 goals, three less than leader Robert Lewandowski.
Benzema is close to Lewandowski, but Real is still far away from the top of Barca's table, up to 12 points. Three points ahead of Valladolid can still be the driving force for Real to prepare to be a guest on Barca's field at Camp Nou in the second leg of the King's Cup semi-final three days later.
Benzema became the first player in Real's history to score 20 or more goals in all competitions in 11 different seasons, surpassing the old record of Alfredo di Stefano and Raul Gonzalez. The French striker has scored 22 goals this season, and he has scored at least once in every arena.
