Qatar's 0-1 loss to Cameroon on the evening of December 2 can become a psychological challenge for Brazil in the remaining journey at the 2022 World Cup.

The 0-1 loss to Cameroon is Brazil's first defeat at the 2022 World Cup, after two wins over Serbia 2-0 and Switzerland 1-0. This is a bad statistic in the history of World Cup appearances of the yellow and green shirt team. In the previous five championships, Brazil did not lose a match.

On the way to winning the first World Cup in 1958, Brazil had 5 wins and 1 draw. 4 years later, they successfully defended the championship with the same achievement. In 1970, in the third time, Brazil won all 6 matches. In 1994, they had 6 wins and 1 draw. In 2002, they won all 7 matches.

The loss to Cameroon was also Brazil's first defeat in the group stage of the World Cup since 1998. In the final group stage match at the tournament in France 24 years ago, Brazil lost 1-2 to Norway. Then, Ronaldo Nazario and his teammates in the final lost 0-3 to France.

The loss to Cameroon was also Brazil's first defeat against an African representative at the World Cup. Before that, Brazil won all 7 matches against teams from the black continent: won Zaire 3-0 in 1974, Algeria 1-0 in 1986, Cameroon 3-0 in 1994, Morocco 3-0 in 1998, Ghana 3-0 2006, Ivory Coast 3-1 in 2010 and Cameroon 4-1 in 2014.

Lowering Brazil, Cameroon has its first World Cup victory in 20 years, since the 1-0 victory over Saudi Arabia. They won three other games on their way to the quarterfinals in 1990: 1-0 Argentina, 2-1 Romania and 2-1 Colombia. In the 2010 and 2014 appearances, Cameroon lost all three group stage matches.

Entering the field against Cameroon, right-back Dani Alves - 39 years and 6 months - set the record for the oldest player to play for Brazil at the World Cup. The old record of 38 years and two months belonged to Thiago Silva - when this midfielder and Brazil beat Switzerland 1-0.

Cameroon beat Brazil with Aboubakar's goal in the 90+2 minute. There are four points after three matches, but the African representative is only third in Group G. Brazil and Switzerland are above, with the same six points. In the 1/8 round, Brazil met South Korea, while Switzerland played Portugal.
