Coach Da Nang: 'If you don't score, it's very difficult to stay relegation'

According to coach Pham Minh Duc, poor finishing caused Da Nang to lose 0-1 SLNA at home on the afternoon of August 5 and almost no longer hope to stay in the V-League.

Da Nang attacked and created many opportunities, but Dinh Xuan Tien's goal for SLNA in the 84th minute left the Han River team empty-handed. "I never thought I would lose this match," Minh Duc said at the press conference after the match at Hoa Xuan Stadium. "In fact, we only have a way to win."

Coach Minh Duc said that the Da Nang player wanted to win, but he was psychologically tense, so he did not handle the last situation well. In fact, Da Nang has good ball control, but the ability to finish is the opposite.

Coach Pham Minh Duc replaced his predecessor Phan Thanh Hung to lead Da Nang from round 11 of phase I. He made a mark in round 13 when Da Nang beat Hanoi Police 1-0. But then, the team in turn drew Binh Duong 0-0, lost to Ho Chi Minh City Club, HAGL and SLNA with the same score 0-1.

"Four games in a row without scoring is a bad achievement," Duc said. "I tell the players that if you don't score, it's very difficult to stay in the relegation zone."

Mr. Duc arrived when Da Nang ranked at the bottom of the table, rekindled hope and then returned to the starting point. Currently, Da Nang has 11 points with a difference of -10, three points behind the two teams ranked above three points, Binh Duong (difference -4) and Ho Chi Minh City club (-11). In the last match of the relegation group on August 11, Binh Duong faced Ho Chi Minh City club and only needed a draw for both teams to stay relegated, while Da Nang lost the right to self-determination despite a strong victory at Khanh Hoa Stadium.

"There is still hope for the possibility of relegation, and there is still a slap in the country," said coach Pham Minh Duc. "But the team has to score and wait for the results."

Since the 2001 season, Da Nang has never dropped out of the top division in Vietnam, with two championships in 2009 and 2012. If relegated, Da Nang will follow in the footsteps of two former V-League champions, Quang Nam and Long. An.
