Hanoi was pleased with the first victory in the V-League 2023, but coach Kiatisuk Senamuang expressed surprise at HAGL defeating Viettel 4-1 on April 6.

HAGL this season suffered a great loss when a series of stars left, and were replaced by young players. That fluctuation directly affects the results of the competition, as shown by the fact that the German team completed all four first rounds of the V-League 2023.

However, in the earliest match of round 5 on April 6, HAGL shocked the host Viettel 4-1 with goals from Chau Ngoc Quang, Tran Minh Vuong, Nguyen Quoc Viet and Paollo. "I'm very satisfied with this match. But I was also surprised when the team won big," coach Kiatisuk said after the match.

According to the Thai military leader, HAGL arrived at Hang Day Stadium with a cautious attitude because Viettel is very strong, having just won 6-0 in the National Cup, previously beating Hanoi Police 2-1 in the V-League. "We advocated to defend firmly first, try to focus. The team scored early, but let the opponent equalize. That made us a bit confused. But in the second half, the team also soon scored, plus a little luck, so we won," Kiatisuk added.

HAGL opened the scoring in the 13th minute, when Nguyen Thanh Binh failed to break Paollo's straight line, giving Chau Ngoc Quang a chance to finish Pham Van Phong. But just 8 minutes later, Kiatisuk's side were equalized when Minh Vuong let the ball touch his hand in the penalty area after Truong Tien Anh's shot, and Bui Tien Dung shot 11m to equalize.

HAGL played deadlocked throughout the second half of the first half. But only 6 minutes into the second half, they took a 2-1 lead thanks to Minh Vuong's beautiful free kick. Viettel was forced to push up the squad to find an equalizer, leaving a lot of space behind for HAGL to counterattack. The away team therefore scored two more goals thanks to Nguyen Quoc Viet and Paollo, to fix the result 4-1.

According to Kiatisuk, the departure of pillars such as Nguyen Cong Phuong, Vu Van Thanh, Nguyen Van Toan, Luong Xuan Truong, Nguyen Phong Hong Duy and Nguyen Huu Tuan on the one hand caused HAGL to suffer losses, but at the same time created opportunities for other players. Young players show their ability and gradually become more confident.

"The team drew the first four matches, but it is also an opportunity for young players to gain experience, and then have their first victory today. I believe this group of players will play better and better, because they have capable and completely able to do like the seniors", coach Kiatisuk praised the young students at HAGL.

Coach Kiatisuk also revealed that he had met and discussed with the new head coach of the Vietnamese team, Philippe Troussier, on the occasion of going to Hanoi to play Viettel. "Mr. Troussier asked me how many players HAGL can play for U23 Vietnam. I invited him to watch the team play with Viettel. When I got good results, I let young players in so that coach Troussier could play. watch them kick. We will support 100% if he summons HAGL's players," said HAGL's leader.

In this match, coach Kiatisuk used some young players such as Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Nguyen Quoc Viet, Tran Bao Toan, Nguyen Duc Viet...
