Coach Nguyen Duc Thang bid farewell to Binh Dinh

Immediately after the V-League 2023 closed the curtain, coach Nguyen Duc Thang decided to leave Binh Dinh club after four years.

Mr. Thang said he had "completed his mission" with martial arts football, and wanted to take a break from football in the immediate future.

Binh Dinh plans to put assistant Bui Doan Quang Huy on the hot seat. In addition to the departure of coach Duc Thang, the team is also facing the possibility of parting with a series of players such as Dang Van Lam, Rafaelson, Nghiem Xuan Tu, and Mac Hong Quan.

Coach Duc Thang has been leading Binh Dinh since 2020 at the same time a real estate business sponsors, helping the team win the First Division championship and win the right to the V-League after 12 years. Binh Dinh then splashed money to attract many good players such as Dang Van Lam, Nghiem Xuan Tu, Mac Hong Quan, Ly Cong Hoang Anh, Do Van Thuan, Cao Van Trien, Ha Duc Chinh... They also recruited players. The best foreign players in the V-League like Rafaelson, Jermie Lynch.

However, Binh Dinh could not fulfill the championship dream. They missed the race for the 2021 season because the tournament was canceled because of the Covid-19 epidemic. In the 2022 season, they finished third when they ranked behind Hanoi FC and Hai Phong, respectively, and won the silver medal of the National Cup.

This season, Binh Dinh is no longer strong in the transfer market, even letting local defender Ho Tan Tai move to the Hanoi Police Club. Due to financial difficulties and many key players no longer keeping good form, Binh Dinh ranked seventh overall in the V-League, winning the bronze medal of the 2023 National Cup.

Coach Nguyen Duc Thang was born in 1976 in Hanoi, is a famous full-back of The Cong club and the Vietnamese team from 1995 to 2005, then retired. Later, coach Duc Thang returned to work as a youth trainer at Viettel Club, Hanoi Club.

In 2014, he led the Hanoi club to win the First Division, went up to play the V-League and changed its name to Saigon FC - now dissolved. In the 2018 season, coach Duc Thang moved to lead Thanh Hoa club, which is being invested heavily, winning the V-League and National Cup runner-up double. After half of the 2019 season, he submitted his resignation because he could not find out in general with the management.
