Coach Park Hang-seo: 'Van Toan will adapt well to K-League 2'
Van Toan started and played for 80 minutes, but it was not enough to help Seoul E-Land escape a 2-3 loss to Cheongju FC at home. According to coach Park Choong-kyun, the fact that E-Land was conceded early in the 9th minute made Van Toan unable to show his strongest point in speed. However, when asked about his former student after the game, Coach Park Hang-seo had a different opinion, saying that Van Toan was still in the adaptation phase.
But the former Vietnam coach also believes that, after starting today, Van Toan will soon integrate and prove his ability in the new environment. "I believe he will adapt well. Van Toan is a positive player, always happy, knows how to manage himself well and has many strengths. In addition, he also has the advantage of being led by a coach. Park Choong-kyun - who used to work for the Vietnamese team for three months," said Mr. Park Hang-seo after the match this afternoon.
On the Mokdong field this afternoon, Van Toan proved to be at a loss in the duel phase because of his physical disadvantage compared to his opponents. Coach Park Hang-seo does not deny that this is a big barrier for Vietnamese players to play in Korea, but he also encourages Van Toan to try to overcome it.
"Korean football is about strength. Many Vietnamese players, including Xuan Truong and Cong Phuong, used to come here to play, but they didn't adapt well, so they had to return. I often told them as well. Van Toan said that if they are afraid of this physically heavy kick, they will not be able to do anything, so they have to confidently step out and play," said the 66-year-old military leader.
Coach Park Hang-seo also revealed that he advised Van Toan to choose Seoul E-Land in K-League 2 to have more opportunities to play, instead of going to K-League 1 clubs. According to him, Van Toan made efforts. and get help, but the striker still has to work harder and need a bit of luck to be successful in Korea.
"The weather is cold in Korea right now, so players can't get used to it overnight. I think Vietnamese players will play better in hot weather," Coach Park added.
After this match, Van Toan and Seoul E-Land continued to prepare for the second round of K-League 2 against Anyang FC away on March 5.
