Coach Park: 'Vietnam is still facing difficulties against the eastern defensive opponent'
Thanks to Nguyen Van Quyet's lucky late goal at the end of the match, Vietnam defeated the Philippines at Hang Day Stadium in the final rehearsal before entering the AFF Cup 2022.
"We don't put a lot of emphasis on results, because this match is only friendly, practice is the main thing. The most important thing is that no player got injured today," Coach Park said at the press conference after the match.
A few minutes earlier, during the press conference of the Philippines, the coach of this team, Mr. Josep Ferre, was full of praise and admitted that he could not find the weakness of the Vietnamese team. But when told about this comment, the Korean leader said that his colleagues said that just out of respect for the host and etiquette.
"There is no perfect team, the Vietnamese team also has weaknesses," added Coach Park. "In front of a large defensive opponent, the team has no space to play the ball, struggling forever without drilling. Me and the assistants will have to figure out a way to fix this problem for the rest of the time before entering AFF. Cup".
The Korean leader was satisfied with the fact that striker Nguyen Van Quyet had completely recovered from his injury and played the whole match. "He told me that he wanted to play against Dortmund on November 30, but I didn't throw Van Quyet on the field that day, because I wanted to let him recover completely," Coach Park added.
Coach Park Hang-seo did not register Pham Dinh Duy, Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Quang Hai, Ho Tan Tai, Hoang Duc and Van Hau to compete against the Philippines. Of these, Van Hau and Hoang Duc have not completely healed from their injuries and will return in the next few days. Quang Hai will join forces from tomorrow morning on December 15, after a private training period, while Ho Tan Tai returns to his hometown to mourn his grandmother, having not practiced for the past two days. Dinh Duy and Thanh Nhan do not have names, possibly because they have not met the professional requirements.
Vietnam will practice two more sessions in Hanoi before going to Laos on December 17. The team has three days to get used to the field and climate before playing the host in the opening match at the AFF Cup on December 21.
