Coach Toshiya Miura leads Thailand U20
Miura was selected as the first coach of Thailand U20 under the "New Era" project between Buriram United Football Academy and the Thai Football Federation FAT. Buriram United is the most successful team in Thai League 1 with eight championships, and owns the best academy in Thailand.
Buriram United and FAT have a close relationship with Japanese football. Currently, they are led by coach Masatada Ishii and a team of four assistants from fellow Japanese. Before Coach Mano Polking, FAT appointed coach Akira Nishino to lead the national team and U23 Thailand.
The salary and contract period between coach Miura and Thailand U20 were not disclosed. His immediate task is expected to be with Thailand to attend the 2023 Southeast Asian U19 tournament, and win the right to attend the 2024 Asian U19 finals.
Coach Miura used to lead the national team and U23 Vietnam in the period 2014-2016. He helped Vietnam win bronze at the 28th SEA Games in Malaysia, the third prize of the 2014 AFF Cup and the first time qualifying for the 2016 Asian U23 Championship.
