Hanoi New coach Philippe Troussier summoned a series of players to the U22 team, including 26 from V-League clubs, to prepare for the 32nd SEA Games.

The list of U22 Vietnam was approved by coach Philippe Troussier and announced on the afternoon of February 27, right after he signed a contract with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

26 out of 41 players were called from clubs playing in the V-League, including some players who have played this season such as Luong Duy Cuong, Pham Dinh Duy (Da Nang), Phan Tuan Tai (Viettel). ), Ho Khac Luong (SLNA), Giap Tuan Duong (Hanoi Police), Nguyen Dinh Son (Nam Dinh)...

The Hanoi Police, SLNA and Hoa Binh FC contributed the most troops, each of 5 people. Hanoi FC has four players, of which three have played in the AFC U23 Championship 2022 under the guidance of coach Gong Oh-kyun, namely goalkeeper Quan Van Chuan, defender Vu Tien Long and striker Nguyen Van Tung.

U22 Vietnam will reunite on March 1 and maintain training until March 29, divided into four phases. The team has two periods of focusing with the national team and playing a friendly match with the seniors. In the final stage, U22 Vietnam will go to the UAE for training and friendly matches. Coach Troussier and the coaching staff will evaluate and eliminate players before closing the list to attend the 32nd SEA Games.

Coach Troussier, in a press conference this morning on February 27, said he accepted the VFF's offer for the purpose of attending the 2026 World Cup finals, when FIFA increased the number of participating teams to 48. However, he also emphasized the goal of maintaining the position. Vietnam's football position in Southeast Asia, and the task at the 32nd SEA Games is to protect the gold medal.

Vietnamese football, after more than 60 years of waiting, won the SEA Games gold medal for the first time in 2019 in the Philippines, under coach Park Hang-seo. The team then successfully defended the position when the 31st SEA Games took place at home in 2022.
