Hanoi coach Philippe Troussier added four U20 players to U22 Vietnam, and hoped that these players would solve the current weakness.

Four U20 players were called, including Nguyen Duc Viet, Nguyen Quoc Viet (HAGL), Nguyen Van Truong (Hanoi FC) and Khuat Van Khang (Viettel). "The performance in the recent Asian U20 tournament is an accurate measure to confirm their potential," coach Troussier said in a press conference on the afternoon of March 11.

The French coach said he appreciates attacking players such as Van Truong, Van Khang and Quoc Viet, considering them a necessary addition because U22 Vietnam's major weakness is the lack of good independent attacking players. , while the downline is doing quite well with the smooth deployment and coordination of the ball.

Coach Troussier believes that all four will integrate quickly because he has worked with him before in the U19 and U20 teams. Four U20 players will join forces in the third training phase of U22 Vietnam, ie from March 13 to March 18.

The current U22 team number is 28 players, and will increase to 36 when adding four U20 players and four players from PVF People's Public Security, including Huynh Cong Den, Ngo Duc Hoang, Tam Van Toan and Nguyen Van Tung. Previously, these four players were asked to return by the club to match the squad to prepare for the 2023 First Division.

After five days of training with seniors in the national team, coach Troussier assessed that the U22 players did not show any fear. "They did pretty much exactly what I set out to do," he asserts. In the third stage of training, coach Troussier wanted the U22 team to have more friendly matches, but no club accepted the invitation because the schedule was full. In this case, U22 Vietnam will play internally.

After that, coach Troussier will have to eliminate about a third of the squad to head for the Doha Cup friendly tournament in Qatar, starting from March 23. "We will choose a reasonable legal match and a competitive squad," said the head coach of Vietnam U22. "I want the team to have better control of the ball, improve the player's spirit when he has the ball, handle the ball as well as possible."

At the same time, coach Troussier expects the V-League to last 10 months per year with 45 to 50 matches. This is to help increase competition and maintain stability in the competition for players. In addition, national teams need to compete with strong opponents in the top 60 FIFA rankings to become more mature.
