Comments U20 Indonesia vs U20 Iraq: Failure is foretold
As the host of the U20 World Cup 2023 taking place at the end of May, Indonesia U20 is responsible for showing the football face of thousands of islands in front of the world. And their immediate goal is to get good results at the 2022 AFC U20 Championship in Uzbekistan.
Despite such a great responsibility, coach Shin Tae Yong did not receive support from the Indonesian Football Federation and clubs. Accordingly, U20 Indonesia marched to Uzbekistan without public midfielder Marselino Ferdinand, who is currently in the process of joining KMSK Deinze club (Belgium 2nd place).
In addition, they are also absent 3 players with 2 Indonesian - Dutch blood, Ivar Jenner, Justin Hubner and Rafael Struick due to not completing the naturalization procedure. Of course, that makes the strength of U20 Indonesia significantly reduced.
In the past two friendly matches, U20 Indonesia received negative results when they lost to New Zealand U20 (1-2) and Guatemala U20 (0-1) respectively. More broadly, they only won 1/5 of the last match, the rest were all lost. Facing a more appreciated Iraq U20, Indonesia U20 is hard to avoid the empty-handed end.
The two teams have never met!
