Japan Takuya Wada's own goal in the 23rd minute almost caused Yokohama FC, the current team of Nguyen Cong Phuong, to lose its second match in a row at the J-League 1 2023.

Wada held the ball on the left wing near the penalty area, instead of passing it to the goalkeeper standing near, he chose to swing it to the opposite wing. However, under heavy rain, Yokohama FC's No. 6 passed an error and sent the ball straight into an empty net. Host Shonan Bellmare thus took a 2-1 lead in the second round match of the J-League 1.

On Hiratsuka Kyujo Stadium, Yokohama FC opened the scoring in the first minute thanks to Koki Ogawa. However, they only kept the advantage for 16 minutes, before Shuto Machino cut the left leg to equalize. In the next minutes, the away team's goal continued to wobble. Shuto Machino's header bounced off the post and one hit the ball past goalkeeper Kengo Nagai but missed the goal.

However, Yokohama FC did not flinch, continuing to control the ball more and play more dominant. In the 55th minute, Caprini took a long shot to test goalkeeper Song Bum-keun, before Koki Ogawa headed the column in the 66th minute.

After receiving a silly goal, Yokohama FC still persisted in attack. In the 88th minute, from the corner of the left wing, Koki Ogawa bravely headed in to hit the ground to once again bring the match back to balance.

The away team's effort almost fell apart when Takumi Nakamura fouled Shuto Machino in the penalty area. After consulting VAR, the referee canceled the decision to blow the penalty because Shonan Bellmare striker Tarik Elyounoussi was offside in the previous situation.

The match had up to 13 minutes of compensation and the two teams continued to play together towards victory, but only Shonan Bellamre had a clear chance. In the 11th minute of the match, Naoki Yamada took advantage of the opponent's mistake to shoot a diagonal shot, but goalkeeper Kengo Nagai blocked it with his toe.

Yokohama FC secured the score 2-2, and got the first score in J-League 1 after two rounds. In the previous round, they lost 0-1 to Nagoya Grampus at home after the mistake of goalkeeper Kengo Nagai.

This is also the second consecutive match that striker Nguyen Cong Phuong is not on the list of registered players. Yokohama FC's next match takes place on March 4 at home against Kashima Antlers.
