Curator Nguyen Thi That finished second in the first stage of the Thai tournament
Nguyen Thi That is currently playing for Israel Premier Tech Roland Club (Switzerland) - a racing team in the top 15 in the world. She just returned to the army to recruit Vietnamese bicycles on April 6 to attend the Tour of Thailand. This morning, the first leg of the tournament took place in Rayong city with a flat route. Competing with 60 other riders, Nguyen Thi That still proved her strength when drawing straight points for the first sprint.
After that, she still maintained the speed to finish in the top. However, about 500 meters from the finish line, other Vietnamese racers were tired and could not do enough speed to bring Nguyen Thi That to the finish line. In contrast, the host racers created an "arrow", pulling away at high speed to bring the ace Maneephan to the sprint. At this time, the Vietnamese racer can only rely on the opponent to compete at the destination.
150 meters from the finish line, Maneephan pressed the pedal to pass, Nguyen Thi That immediately chased but could not keep up, and had to accept to see the opponent win the stage.
Maneephan is the speed queen of Thai cycling. She won the Asian gold medal as well as the SEA Games and the Asian tournament. This 1988-born crab also went to Vietnam many times to compete in the Binh Duong women's cycling tournament and had many victories against Nguyen Thi That as well as won the Blue Shirt in tournaments.
Tour of Thailand 2023 will take place from April 8 to 10 with 3 short stages of 70km, 82.2km, 89km respectively, with relatively flat terrain, few steep passes. Besides Vietnam and the two hosts Thailand, the 2023 Tour of Thailand also has nine other racing teams, including the women's teams Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Korea, Taiwan, and four Fisherman's Friend clubs (Thailand). , Kitchen Queen (Thailand), Cervelo – Zypyrack (Australia), Sichuan Cycling Team (China).
The Vietnamese women's bicycle team is led by coach Dang Trung Hieu with five riders including Nguyen Thi That, Nguyen Thi Thi, Nguyen Thi Thu Mai, Bui Thi Quynh and Lam Thi Kim Ngan. This is considered an important rehearsal for the team to prepare for the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia.
Tomorrow 9/4, the second stage race is 82.2km long.
