Dad advised Ansu Fati to leave Barca
"Like every other father, I get angry when I see my son in such a situation, because Ansu plays so little. I told Barca that my son deserves more kicks. Before the injury, Ansu played. like Messi, Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele or Antoine Griezmann. It's frustrating to see Ansu only kick one, two or three minutes," Bori Fati told COPE.
Fati was expected to become the new symbol of the Nou Camp after Messi moved to PSG in the summer of 2021. But consecutive injuries slowed the development of the Guinea-Bissau-born player. Fati has only started nine times in La Liga this season, scoring three goals and zeroing in a 3-0 win over Villarreal in October last year. The 20-year-old striker also faces fierce competition when Barca's attack also has Robert Lewandowski, Dembele, Raphinha or Ferran Torres.
"Barca have good strikers, but we are talking about Ansu Fati, a Spaniard, not a boy. My son is a product of La Masia. If he does not play, there is still a child. What more can you give it? Ansu deserves more as Barca's number 10 shirt wearer," continued Mr. Bori.
There was once information that Barca wanted to push Fati to leave the Nou Camp next summer to solve the financial problem. Through agent Jorge Mendes, Fati confirmed that he wanted to stay and continue to dedicate himself to Barca. However, Bori thinks that his son should find a new place to save his career.
"I think a lot about Sevilla. Our home is there. Right now, I don't appreciate the offer from Real Madrid because Ansu won't accept it. I can't force him to go where he doesn't want to. However, I don't. never speak badly of Real. Because they and Barca are two big clubs and you never know what will happen in the future," he said.
On April 1, Barca will meet the bottom team Elche after a two-week break to make room for the teams to focus. Fati is likely to start, because Dembele is injured and Raphinha is suspended.
