Midfielder Kevin De Bruyne topped the top 30 best midfielders in Premier League history, in a poll conducted by Visual Game.

De Bruyne surpassed top names such as Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, or Paul Scholes to win this position. He is one of only two players still playing in the top 10, the other being Chelsea midfielder N'golo Kante (10th).

Gerrard finished second, while Lampard was third in the poll. The remaining two positions in the top 5 belong to Scholes and the new coach who was sacked by Crystal Palace Patrick Vieira.

De Bruyne has three teammates in the top 20, including Rodri (17), Ilkay Gundogan (18) and Bernando Silva (20). Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea are the three clubs with the most former players in the top 30. Eight people per team.

With the exception of De Bruyne, the remaining four midfielders in the top 5, along with Roy Keane (ranked eighth), were recently inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame for their contributions in the history of the tournament.

In the match Man City beat Southampton 4-1 on April 8, De Bruyne became the fastest player to reach 100 assists in Premier League history. He surpassed the record previously held by former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas. De Bruyne only needed 237 games to do this, 56 games faster than Fabregas. Only five players have achieved this feat in tournament history.

Fabregas also entered the top 10 polls conducted by Visual Game, ranking ninth. Yaya Toure is sixth, and David Silva is seventh.

De Bruyne's talent is recognized by both professionals and fans. Former Liverpool player Jamie Redknapp called the Man City midfielder a "genius", while both Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher chose De Bruyne in their Premier League team of the year.
