De Gea got the lowest score in the defeat to Sevilla
Once praised by coach Erik ten Hag, but at a crucial moment, De Gea once again became a problem for Man Utd. The Spaniard made a mistake on the first goal, when he passed to teammate Harry Maguire who was surrounded by three Sevilla players in front of the penalty area. As a result, Youssef En-Nesyri had the opportunity to escape, setting the score for Sevilla in the 8th minute.
When Man Utd conceded the second goal in the 47th minute, De Gea's arm span and jumping power were not enough to block Loic Bade's header even though the ball was not tight. The climax was in the 81st minute. The 32-year-old goalkeeper rushed out of the box but missed in an undisputed position, creating conditions for En-Nesyri to complete the double with a light shot into the empty goal.
The Manchester Evening News site gave De Gea 2 points out of 10 for this performance, the lowest in the Man Utd squad, equal to Jadon Sancho - a player who also disappointed in attack and was substituted after half-time.
Due to the injury of the main centre-back pair Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane, Ten Hag was forced to use Maguire and Victor Lindelof. This duo always does not bring a sense of security to Man Utd fans, and that was shown in the first goal. Maguire asked for the ball from De Gea while facing goal before passing it on to the Sevilla player. This mistake made Maguire only 3 points. Also receiving this score are right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who did not provide much support in attack and was substituted after half-time, along with Anthony Martial - the striker was injured again and played only 54 minutes.
The placement of Diogo Dalot in the left-back position was not as successful as the victory against Nottingham Forest. After the break, Ten Hag had to return him to the right-back position. The Portuguese player is given 4 points. Similarly, Christian Eriksen, criticized for not being able to use his experience to regulate the play for Man Utd at a time of pressure.
The two remaining midfielders of Man Utd Casemiro and Marcel Sabitzer also got only 4 points. Casemiro was judged to be lackluster in front of Sevilla's midfield, while Sabitzer could not create breakthrough moments as expected. In the first leg at Old Trafford last week, Sabitzer scored twice to help the hosts lead two goals, before letting Sevilla equalize 2-2.
The two highest-scored players in the Man Utd starting line-up are Lindelof (5 points) and Antony (6 points). Lindelof is appreciated for his timely defensive phase, and Antony is perhaps the only player on the Man Utd side who plays in the right form and is determined to win.
With five players on the field, Wout Weghorst and Fred were given four points for not making a significant difference. Luke Shaw received 5 points with a self-injury situation. Same goes for Marcus Rashford, who plays better than Sancho at least. Anthony Elanga scored 6 points when launching a dangerous shot.
