Denmark is about to overthrow Pogacar at Tour de France
The penultimate stage is the second stage with the personal hours of Tour de France 2022, with a 40.7 km long route from Lacapelle-Marival to Rocamadour.
According to ESPN, Vingegaard - the racer has no forte in the content of the hour - can play safely when keeping a distance of more than three minutes than the chasing group. But instead, the UCI Worldteam Team Jumbo - Visma team accepted all risks in the technical track and experienced a bit of fear when evaluating a piece of crab near the destination and had to brake quickly to avoid collisions.
Vingegaard then slowed down significant speed when close to the finish line and the second finish in the 20th stage, after the winner and teammate Wout Van Aert 19 seconds. The Aert valve reaches the target with a time of 47 minutes 59 seconds with an average speed of 50.2 km/h.
The Jumbo - Visma team hugged each other warmly when they got to the finish line, and Vingegaard was touched by his wife and two daughters later. He even said that having two daughters welcome at the finish line is more meaningful than victory.
Vingegaard makes a difference in the hilly track, when he first won a yellow shirt from Pogacar on the Alps with a memorable race to Col Du Granon. This week, the 25-year-old crab asserted its position with an impressive power in the last Pyrenean to the Hautacam resort.
After three weeks of tired race, Vingegaard held a yellow shirt for 76 hours 44 minutes 57 seconds, leading Pogacar - Tour de France champion for the last two years - up to 3 minutes 34 seconds. ESPN said, Vingegaard will surely become a new champion of Tour de France, if no collision or incident in the last stage.
If crowned, Vingegaard will become the first Denmark crab to win the tour since 1996, after Bjarne Riis. He will also become the first male racer to return to the first and first in two consecutive tournaments, after the German Jan Ullrich in 1996 and 1997. At the tour de France 2021, Vingegaard came second after Pogacar itself.
"Since last year, I always believe that I can do it and now that has happened. It really can't believe it. This is a relief and I am very happy and proud," Vingegaard Talking after the second stage 20 and approached the Championship Tour de France 2022.
Today 24/7, Tour de France 2022 will race the last stage of 116 km from Paris La Defense Arena with the tradition of Champs-Elysees Boulevard.
