Djokovic escaped despite losing the first two sets at the US Open
Before compatriot Serbia is in high form, Djokovic entered the game struggling. He lost the first serve game and was always dragged into persistent balls for the rest of the set. The first four games are almost half an hour long. Djere didn't lose any serve games, winning the 55-minute first set.
The 32nd seed continued to bring excitement into the second set, where he did not face any break points. Djere serves, moves well and is not inferior to Nole in durable balls. The 28-year-old tennis player won a game to catch the ball, thereby winning another set, also with a score of 6-4.
Having lost the first two sets, Djokovic asked the referee to go to the locker room. When he returned to the field, he seemed to have a "transformation", similar to many matches where Nole had come from behind in the past. The power and accuracy of his kicks improved significantly, leaving Djere unable to adapt. Djokovic's opponent soon lost his rhythm in the set, losing five games in a row. Despite being down 0-40 in the final game of the set, Nole still won 6-1.
After Djokovic won a set again, the next developments no longer surprised fans. He won all the blocking games in set four, and lost only one service game. For the second set in a row, Nole won 6-1.
Djere's morale was low after two quick sets. In terms of physical strength, the No. 32 seed is also weak compared to his eight-year-old senior. Nole took an early 3-0 lead in the deciding set, then held on to the other games. In the last game, Nole faced a bit of pressure when the referee reminded him about the time to serve, and was led 30-40. Courage helped Djokovic save the break point, then won the final 4-6, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, 6-3.
The match ended at nearly 2 a.m., New York time. For the eighth time in his career, Nole won a comeback after losing the first two sets in a Grand Slam. After the game, he said it was one of the hardest games at this level in recent years, when the opponent was all-round on every shot.
In round four, Nole will face the phenomenon of the tournament, Borna Gojo - who also has the ability to serve well and hit evenly like Djere.
