Djokovic ready for Srpska Open

Bosnia & Herzegovina Novak Djokovic is the number one seed at the ATP 250 event in Bosnia & Herzegovina this week, possibly meeting Stan Wawrinka in the second round.

Despite the suspicion of an elbow injury, Djokovic was still present at the Srpska Open - the first tournament held on behalf of the Serbia Open. Srpska Open is directed by Djokovic's youngest brother, Djordje.

According to the draw results, Djokovic will meet Wawrinka in the second round if the Swiss player beats Luca van Assche in the opening round. Both Djokovic and Wawrinka have had a disappointing week with early eliminations at the Monte Carlo Masters.

Djokovic fought Wawrinka 26 times and lost only six. But two of those six defeats were Grand Slam finals, at Roland Garros 2015 and the 2016 US Open. Djokovic beat Wawrinka last time they met, at the Rome Masters last year.

Djokovic's semi-final draw has seeds like Jiri Lehecka, Miomir Kecmanovic and Gregoire Barrere. Nole's potential opponent in the final is second seed Andrey Rublev, who has just won the Monte Carlo Masters.

Rublev won't have much trouble on his way to the quarterfinals, with seventh seed Richard Gasquet as his biggest opponent. Russian tennis players can fight Borna Coric in the semi-finals.

Djokovic won 16, lost two matches since the beginning of the season, winning the Adelaide Open and Australian Open in January. He rested for nearly two months after losing to Daniil Medvedev in the semi-finals of the Dubai Championships. The new Srpska Open is Djokovic's fifth event this season. He is expected to play at two Masters 1000 in Madrid and Rome, before going to Roland Garros.
