American legend John Mcenroe called on the US government to allow Novak Djokovic to enter and play for Grand Slam in New York next month to be more attractive.

"Let Djokovic go to the United States to play. The forbiding him now is ridiculous," John McEnroe commented after Djokovic lowered his Nick Kyrgios in the Wimbledon final on the afternoon of July 10.

Mcenroe, owner of the seven Grand Slam, called on President Joe Biden to loosen the entry regulation with people who have not injected vaccines, especially elite athletes like Djokovic. He said: "The politicians are hindering sports. They did it in Australia. It was impossible to let this repeated, affecting the attractiveness of the event."

Djokovic asserted that he did not change the viewpoint of vaccine, at a press conference after Wimbledon. He said: "My only chance is that the US eliminates the vaccine passport regulations next month. I really want to play there, but there's nothing in a hurry."

Responding to the Serbia Novostri newspaper last month, American tennis player Tennys Sandgren was difficult to understand because of the US entry rules. He said: "I have not injected the vaccine but still go in and out of the US normally. They are discriminating against foreigners. I have texted Djokovic and feel injustice, if he is constantly banned from playing for the vaccine. ".

Sandgren abandoned Australia early this year because he did not inject the vaccine. Many American sports stars still play every week without a vaccine, like defender NBA Kyrie Irving and Golfer Bryson Dechambeau. According to USA Today's statistics, only about 78% of Americans have injected at least one vaccine.

There is no sign that the US government will abandon the vaccine passport regulations with foreigners, although last month they are no longer required to have negative tests for 48 hours before entry. The two Chelsea players, N’Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek recently missed the opportunity to play the US because they have not injected two vaccines.

The United States expanded - the last Grand Slam of the year - started on August 31. Djokovic three times champion here, 2011, 2015 and 2018.
