Doan Van Hau: 'CAHN deserves to win the V-League'

According to defender Doan Van Hau, the 2023 V-League championship is a worthy achievement for the Hanoi Police after a season full of ups and downs.

In the final round of V-League 2023 on the afternoon of August 27, CAHN drew Thanh Hoa 1-1, and Hanoi FC won Viettel 3-2. Both teams got 38 points but CAHN ranked first because of the higher goal difference (+18 vs +13).

At one point this season, CAHN was far behind Hanoi FC. But three consecutive victories against Nam Dinh, Hanoi FC and Viettel helped them break through and regain the top position. Before the closing round, CAHN held the right to self-determination when two points more than the opponent in the same city.

"It's been a long time since CAHN returned to professional football, so this championship is even more meaningful," said Doan Van Hau after lifting the Cup on Hang Day Stadium. "CAHN deserves to win the V-League after tireless efforts".

This is the fourth championship of Doan Van Hau in the V-League. Before that, in 2018, 2019 and 2022, he was crowned in the shirt of Hanoi FC. The defender in 1999 affirmed that he would continue to work hard and win more titles in the future, no matter which club.

Similar to Van Hau, Quang Hai also won the fourth championship. He played only seven games and did not contribute much, after returning from France. So the 1997 midfielder promises to come back stronger next season.

Meanwhile, this is Vu Van Thanh's first major club title. Defender in 1996 felt worried when Thanh Hoa equalized 1-1, but because he had the right to decide, he and his teammates told each other to focus on playing and not pay attention to the Hanoi FC match against Viettel.

However, Van Thanh still feels regretful when recalling his old team HAGL. "The thing I regret the most is not being able to win the highest title with my brothers who have fought since childhood," said the 27-year-old defender.

Van Thanh came to Gia Lai in 2007 and trained at HAGL Academy and played for the first team for 16 years but did not win any title. This summer, he left HAGL on a free transfer, and joined CAHN.
