DP World Tour for the first time has a female golfer
The DP World Tour is the new name for the 2022 European Tour. Scandinavian Mixed, which brings together 78 male and 78 female players to compete for the bonus fund, each gender has its own service area, was originally scheduled to launch in June 2020, but was cancelled due to COVID-19. Last year's champion belonged to Jonathan Caldwell, with a score of-17.
This year's competition was held at PAR72 Stadium in Halmstad, Sweden. Grant, 22, who was born and bred, topped the table at-16 after the third round, with Lowe two strokes ahead. In the fourth round, she had no bogey and scored 8 birds, raising the final milestone to-24, from T2 to 9.
"I thought I was three or four shots ahead, but when I looked at the overall record, I thought of eight," Grant said after keeping the par 13. "That's when I was relieved." She made the eighth birdie on the 14th hole,-24, until the end of the game. Grant received $334,500 in a $2 million bonus fund.
Runner-up includes compatriot Henrik Stenson-who won six PGA Tour titles and 11 European Tour trophies in 2016. In addition to competing in the Scandinavian remix competition, Stenson co-hosted the competition with Annika Sorenstam.
In this year's Scandinavian remix, Grant received practical support from her boyfriend Pontus Samuelson. Grant used to be a golfer at the University of Arizona in the United States, and his career was only one year, mainly on the Women's European Tour (LET). She has won three cup races in six this season, including the Scandinavian medley.
"I hope this victory will help the development of women's golf and attract more sponsors for LET," Grant said at the awards ceremony.
The Grant family has a rich golf tradition. Her grandfather, James, was a coach for Scottish immigrants to Sweden, while his father, John, took part in the Swedish golf tour and later went to the veteran team, winning seven championships.
