According to striker Faisal Halim, Vietnam is a big challenge but the Malaysian players are ready to overcome.

"We came to Vietnam to win. The team will play with all we have," Faisal Halim said at a press conference in Hanoi on the morning of December 26.

Malaysia currently holds the top of Group B thanks to winning Myanmar 1-0 and Laos 5-0 in the first two rounds. The team will win tickets to the semi-finals one round early, if they continue to win at My Dinh. However, the Malaysian teams have never won against Vietnam under coach Park Hang-seo in the past 5 years.

"Vietnamese players are all quality. Tomorrow's match will be very difficult and a big challenge. But we accept that challenge," added Faisal Halim.

Faisal Halim was born in 1998, has been playing domestically for Terengganu for the past two years and has just signed a contract with Selangor. He just scored the only goal to help Malaysia win 1-0 at Myanmar and scored twice when the team won 5-0 against Laos.

"I hope to continue to play well and score goals. But the most important thing is team play. It's okay if I don't score, it's important that Malaysia get something from the trip to Vietnam," Faisal Halim replied. when asked by a reporter if he was confident about his ability to score in the third game in a row.

According to Faisal Halim, before the AFF Cup 2022, the Malaysian team did not have high expectations, when the team lacked a number of pillars because Johor Darul Ta'zim Club refused to release troops. However, coach Kim Pan-gon's army then performed impressively, winning two matches to rise to the top of Group B.

"I know before that the fans did not believe in the team. But we did. The opportunity came and we took advantage. The Malaysian team is different now, the players are ready to give 100%. I coming here does not want to lose face, does not want to disappoint our family. We will fight hard for the team, win, bring pride," Faisal Halim announced.

The match between Vietnam and Malaysia will take place at 19:30 on December 27.
