Federer returns to Wimbledon
Federer surprised to appear in Wimbledon next to other champions of the league of Martina Hingis, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and the legends of Rod Laver, John Enroe King, Billie, Jean King.
The Swiss player is the last to enter the yard in the list of honorary guests, right after the current champion Djokovic. The crowd in the central yard stood up and applauded Federer when he approached the middle of the yard and stood next to Serbia juniors.
"I am very lucky to have played here many times," Federer opened. "This field has witnessed my biggest victories and defeats. I spent a difficult year with knee injuries. But, I hope to come back here again."
Federer planned to play later this year, in Laver Cup and Basel Open. According to Swiss media, the 40 -year -old player prioritized playing in Wimbledon 2023, more than the remaining three Grand Slam. Last year Federer attended both Roland Garros and Wimbledon, in turn stopped in the fourth round and quarterfinals. He won Wimbledon eight times, the most of the four Grand Slams.
"Express train" said he was happy with life without tennis in the past year. Federer at home with his wife and children, traveling, then attending business activities, advertising, and happy to be busy. "I am not sure anything about the schedule of the next year. I only enjoy the present joy, like standing in the Wimbledon central yard," he added.
When the legendary McEnroe asked about the most memorable match in the central field, Federer said it was the victory over Pete Sampras in the fourth round of 2001, and defeated the Philippoussis in the final of 2003. Federer's last time to the Grand Slam final The pitch is 2019, losing Djokovic.
