Federer was not ranked for the first time in 25 years
Before Wimbledon this year, Federer ranked 97th and was deducted all points after the Grass Court Grand Slam closed on July 10. Federer's first appearance on the ATP scoreboard was in September 1997, at 803. For nearly 25 years, he never dropped off the world rankings.
Federer has been out for three long periods in the past 18 months and has undergone three knee operations. He turns 41 on August 8 and is scheduled to return to the Basel Open in his home country of Switzerland in October. Before that, "Express" will participate in the Porphyra Cup team competition in London in September.
Speaking at the All England Club last week to celebrate the centenary of Central Stadium, Federer said he was aiming to play another Wimbledon game in 2023. This is Federer's most successful Grand Slam event, with eight titles-a record. Pete Sampras and Novak Djokovic followed with the same seven-time crown.
Djokovic dropped four places to seventh in the world with 4,770 points. This is the lowest ranking of Serbian tennis players since August 2018. Last year, Wimbledon runner-up Berettini was also deducted 1200 points and dropped to 15th place.
Rafael Nadal increased one step to the number of three in the world, with 6,165 points. The top two positions still belong to Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev, who were only deducted 180 points from Wimbledon last year. Standing on Djokovic also has Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud and Carlos Alcaraz.
The number one player in Vietnam Ly Hoang Nam increased by six steps, to 358 in the world. This is the best hierarchy of men and Vietnamese tennis history.
