FIFA will cost 355 million USD for players to attend the World Cup
At the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, the clubs that released players for the World Cup were compensated by FIFA 209 million USD. On March 27, FIFA and the European Club Association (ECA) signed a memorandum of understanding in Budapest, to increase this amount to 70% in the next two World Cups. ECA President Nasser Al Khelaifi said the minutes "recognize the central role clubs play in global football".
Previously, FIFA and ECA also agreed to cooperate in trade and sports, to expand the Club World Cup in 2025. This tournament will include 32 of the world's top clubs, replacing the current format only with seven teams.
The Club World Cup will also take place every four years like the World Cup, and the competition will be distributed according to the strength of the continental federations. UEFA clubs will have 12 spots, one less than European teams for the 2022 World Cup. The Club World Cup will also have a similar award for women's clubs, and still keep the Super Cup matches continuously. land.
FIFA also announced a new schedule for the club level, which has been approved by the ECA until 2030. This could affect the schedule of top European leagues such as the Premier League or the Champions League. FIFA President Gianni Infantino said that "this is an important day for the future of football, for its long-term stability".
ECA is an organization representing UEFA professional clubs, established in 2008 with 16 original members, including Real Madrid, Barca, Chelsea, Man Utd, Juventus, Milan or Bayern. To date, ECA has 220 members, with all of Europe's top clubs regularly participating in UEFA competitions.
