Four Vietnamese runners run sub3 at Boston Marathon

Nguyen Dong Dinh (47 years old) is the person with the best record with 2 hours 42 minutes 01 seconds. At the same time, he broke the personal record (PR) previously set at a domestic tournament (2 hours 42 minutes 32 seconds). His wife - runner Thai Thu Trang also has a PR at this race. It took her 3 hours 39 minutes 18 seconds to conquer the Boston Marathon, far exceeding the 3 hours 43 minutes set up at the MetaSports Marathon Hue 2022.

"I had a great race despite running in the cold below 10 degrees Celsius and pouring rain. Finished healthy, happy and grateful," Thai Trang shared on her personal page.

Three other runners also finished the race in under 3 hours: Hoang Huy, Minh Duc and Bui Da. Hoang Duc Huy (44 years old) finished the race with a record of 2 hours 52 minutes 23 seconds, Nguyen Tran Minh Duc (32 years old) completed the race after 2 hours 53 minutes 22 seconds. The fourth person to reach sub3 is Bui Van Da (Dan Lee - 46 years old), with a record of 2 hours 2 hours 58 minutes 47 seconds.

Nguyen Tran Minh Duc said, this is a special race, unprecedented in life. "The cold weather, numb limbs, the continuous slopes in the second half destroyed my strength quickly. Not to mention the achievements, the experience in Boston made me satisfied," Minh Duc said.

Enjoying the atmosphere and experiencing the racetrack is the common goal of most Vietnamese runners when coming to this tournament. Before the start of the tournament, runner Nga Vo said that she did not care about achievements. "It is a dream for me to be at the starting line of the tournament that brings together the best athletes in the world," the female runner shared. She finished the race in 3 hours 39 minutes 12 seconds.

According to the list of Boston Athletics Association (BAA) announced the runner to attend the major tournament on April 17 in the US, Vietnam has 10 athletes. The remaining names are Hung Vo, Dao Han, Trang Tran, Dinh Linh. In which, Hung Vo finished with a record of 3 hours 43 minutes 24 seconds, Dao Han finished the race with 3 hours 07 minutes 25 seconds and Trang Tran ran 4 hours 29 minutes 30 seconds. Runner Dinh Linh did not participate in this tournament because he was not in the best form.

Dong Dinh, Thu Trang, Minh Duc, Van Da, Hoang Huy all used their achievements at MetaSports Marathon as a condition to register for the tournament.

Boston Marathon, born in 1897, is the oldest running race in the world, and belongs to the World Marathon Majors (WMM) system, alongside the races in New York, Chicago, London, Berlin and Tokyo. This year's tournament has about 33,000 athletes participating. Kenyan runner - Evans Chebet successfully defended the championship with a time of 2 hours 5 minutes 54 seconds, the third best achievement in tournament history.
