France draws the opening match of the Women's World Cup 2023

Unable to break Jamaica's solid defense, France drew 0-0 in the opening match of Group F of the 2023 Women's World Cup.

When the final whistle sounded on Sydney Stadium, the Jamaican players hugged each other with joy. The 0-0 draw is historic for this country when they won the first point in the World Cup, in the second time participating.

The CONCACAF team had to pay for this draw with striker Khadija Shaw's red card in the second minute of injury time. Shaw's foul situation left France captain Wendie Renard on the field and she was booed by the opposing fans. However, this is a testament to Jamaica's determination. In a non-dangerous phase of the ball on the opponent's side, Shaw still played fiercely to help the home team protect the draw.
