Qatar coach Hansi Flick thinks that Germany must blame itself after being eliminated in the 2022 World Cup, instead of blaming Spain.

"I never looked for an excuse in another team, even though Germany's elimination was related to the results of many matches. This is completely our fault," Flick said after the last round of Group E of the 2022 World Cup yesterday. "Germany has to see for itself. I believe we have enough chances to score more goals and get better results against Japan and Spain."

Like four years ago, Germany shocked to return home right after the group stage. The 4-2 victory over Costa Rica yesterday was not enough for Flick's teachers and students to correct their mistakes after losing 1-2 days to Japan. Germany finished the group stage with four points, tied for second in group Spain, but lost on goal difference (+1 vs +6).

Against Costa Rica, Germany opened the scoring thanks to Serge Gnabry but missed many opportunities and was led back in the first half of the second half. Thanks to two substitutes Kai Havertz (double) and Niclas Fullkrug, they were able to turn the situation around at the end of the game. Flick thinks that if they take advantage of the opportunity better, Germany can score three to four goals in the first half to put pressure on Spain and Japan in the match at the same time.

"I don't want to find excuses for defeat. Germany played well against Spain. It was a tight match for us. But turning the team into a machine takes time," the 57-year-old coach said. express. "The Spain game needs to be the German standard of tightness and concentration. The team needs to do that before thinking about the result. Today, the team won but I think we can do better. We can do better. could not be satisfied with this result".

Sharing about the plan after the World Cup, Flick said that Germany will quickly overcome the defeat and look to the future. He wants to look to the next tournament - Euro 2024 at home - and wants Germany to find a new approach to create the right route.

"We have players at the top. But the future of German football requires the right approach to coaching and training. We have talked about the lack of a centre-forward or full-backs. good for a long time. Training young people needs to solve that problem. We need a good foundation for the team, like Spain. German football needs the right direction in the next 10 years," said Flick.
