Germany and Bayern captain Manuel Neuer is out for the rest of the season after breaking his leg while skiing.

The injury information was updated by Neuer on his personal Instagram, showing a photo of him lying on a hospital bed with his right leg in a cast and his right hand in a bandage. The goalkeeper born in 1986 had surgery yesterday, December 9 and felt that the end of 2022 did not go as planned for him.

"I wanted to clear my mind by skiing but unfortunately broke my leg bone," Neuer announced. "The surgery went well but it's heartbreaking to hear that the season has ended so early for me."

Previously, Neuer and Germany were eliminated from the group stage of the 2022 World Cup, repeating the result four years ago in Russia. After leaving the national team, he traveled to regain his spirits before joining Bayern to prepare for the rest of the season when he crashed.

Sven Ulreich will be the name to replace Neuer in the Bayern goal. On January 6, 2023, the team gathered in Doha, Qatar for training before returning to the season with a match against RB Leipzig in the round of 16 of the Bundesliga on January 21.

Manuel Neuer is one of the best goalkeepers in the history of world football. The 36-year-old goalkeeper, who won the 2014 FIFA Bronze Ball, is the closest goalkeeper to reach the top 3 best individuals in the world since the legendary goalkeeper Lev Yashin won the Ballon d'Or in 1963.

Neuer grew up at the Schalke 04 youth academy before joining Bayern to win 10 Bundesliga titles, 5 national cups, and 2 Champions Leagues. He also played 117 matches for the German national team, making a big contribution to the 2014 World Cup victory.
