Guardiola could end his career in Serie A
When asked about the possibility of Guardiola leading Palermo, the Calciomercato website quoted Ferran Soriano as saying: "He asked if Palermo is sunny. Maybe one day he will work here." "He knows everything we do, he knows Italian football very well. Like everyone else, he is very excited about this deal."
City Group, which owns clubs in Manchester City, New York City (USA) and Melbourne City (Australia), has just bought an 80% stake in Palermo. Soriano is likely to be general manager, as he has been with other clubs in the system.
Last season, Palermo were third in Serie A and secured Serie B rights with a 2-0 win over Padua in the race for tickets. City Group and Soriano will invest to get Palermo to Serie A as soon as possible. "We have enough budget for us to stay in Serie B and have the opportunity to go to Serie A. We have dreams, but we also have ambition, modesty, wisdom and patience," Soriano affirmed.
Manchester City is the third music department coached by Guardiola. During his six working seasons, the Spaniard helped the Etihad Stadium win four Premier League matches, one FA Cup, four League Cups and two English Super Cups, and reached the 2021 Champions League final.
Prior to this, Guardiola helped Barcelona win three La Liga, two King's Cups, three Spanish Super Cups, two Champions League, two European Super Cups and two World Club Cups between 2008 and 2012. During his time in charge of Bayern from 2013 to 2016, he won three Bundesliga leagues, two German Cups, a European Super Cup and a FIFA World Club Cup.
As a player, Guardiola played in Italy from 2001 to 2003, playing for Brescia and Roma.
