Guardiola worries about the lack of Champions League at Man City

Coach Pep Guardiola said that his reign at Man City was incomplete because he had not won the Champions League.

"The Champions League is not the only Cup. But I admit it is the title we want. My time in charge of Man City would not be complete without that Cup. But that is certainly not the only reason why. I renewed with the club," Guardiola told Goal.

Guardiola has helped Man City win the Premier League four times, with four League Cups and an FA Cup since leading the club in 2016. But he has never won the Champions League here. The best achievement of the Spaniard with the Etihad Stadium owner is in the final of the 2020-2021 season, but lost to Chelsea.

This is considered one of the reasons why Guardiola cannot be satisfied leaving the Etihad Stadium. This is his sixth year working at Man City. Before that, the 51-year-old military leader led Barca for four years and Bayern for three years.

Guardiola is considered one of the most successful coaches in history. He is praised for helping Man City become a force of European football. The Spanish military leader has twice lifted the Champions League Cup, but both at Barca when he inherited the ideal framework to operate the tiki-taka style.

Man City will return to the Champions League on February 23, meeting RB Leipzig in the first leg of the 1/8 round away from home. But ahead of them is the Liverpool match in the third round of the League Cup on the evening of December 22. This is the first match of Guardiola's teachers and students after the break to make way for the World Cup. After that, they will march to Leeds Stadium on December 28 in the framework of the English Premier League.

Currently, the 16 players participating in the World Cup are gradually returning to focus. According to Guardiola, these people are in better shape than their teammates who did not go to Qatar, such as Sergio Gomez, Erling Haaland, Riyad Mahrez or Cole Palmer.
