Haaland scores more than nine Premier League teams
The Norwegian striker also became the fastest player to reach 25 goals under Pep Guardiola, after 20 matches. Lionel Messi held this record in 2009, but he needed 28 games. Behind the Argentine star in this parameter is Samuel Eto'o with 30 games under Guardiola, Kun Aguero (35) and Thierry Henry (41).
Haaland also only needs 14 matches to reach 20 goals in the Premier League. He thereby became the fastest player to reach 20 goals in Premier League history, when he broke Kevin Phillips' old record of 20 goals in 21 matches with Sunderland in the 1999-2000 season.
Haaland is expected to break the Premier League record of 34 goals held by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole. But this record was set when the tournament had a total of 42 matches, compared with 38 as it is now. The record for the most goals scored in a season with 38 matches belongs to Mohamed Salah - the Egyptian star scored 32 goals in the 2017-2018 season. According to CNN, if he continues to keep his current performance, Haaland will reach 50 goals in the Premier League this season.
After the game, Shearer believes Haaland will score at least 40 goals this season, and maybe even break the Premier League record of 260 that he holds. "A good striker will score 20 goals a season. And a great striker, like Haaland, can score 40 goals," the former England striker said on Amazon Prime.
But even with the 50-goal mark, Haaland is still far short of English football's all-time top scorer record. This record belongs to the late Everton striker Dixie Dean, who scored 60 goals in just 39 games in the 1927-1928 season.
Haaland is currently leading the race for Premier League Top Scorer 2022-2023. Second place player Harry Kane has only scored 13 goals, while one of the two top scorers last season, Mohamed Salah has 7 goals.
Haaland's impressive form helps Man City score the most goals in the Premier League this season (43). But the owner of Eithad is currently ranked second, behind Arsenal - the team that scored 36 goals. After the victory over Leeds, Haaland confirmed that he would "hunt" Arsenal with Man City to the end.
