With a brace against Leeds, Erling Haaland became the fastest player to reach 20 goals in Premier League history.

After a brace in the 3-1 win over Leeds on the evening of December 28, Haaland had 20 Premier League goals. To reach this number, the Norwegian striker only needs 14 games. Thanks to that, Haaland became the fastest player to reach 20 Premier League goals, breaking Kevin Phillips' old record of 20 goals in 21 matches for Sunderland in the 1999-2000 season.

The record in the match on the evening of December 28 is Haaland's sixth record from the beginning of the 2022-2023 season. The previous five records include: the fastest player to score two hat-tricks in the Premier League, with the first five appearances (the old record was 14), the fastest player to score three hat-tricks in the Premier League, with eight matches. First player to attend (old record 48 games), first player to score three Premier League hat-tricks in three consecutive home games, player who needed the fewest consecutive games to score three Premier League hat-tricks (the old record was 10 games), and the first player to score 25 goals in his first 20 Champions League appearances.

Haaland's father, Alfie, played at Leeds from 1997 to 2000. Haaland was born in Leeds in July 2000. After the goals against his father's old team, the 22-year-old striker did not share joy to show respect.

Haaland joined Man City in the summer of 2022, for $ 60 million. In the first 20 matches of the season in all competitions, the Norwegian star contributed 26 goals. This percentage of goals is somewhat higher than 86 goals in 98 games at Dortmund and 29 goals in 27 games at RB Salzburg.

With 20 goals, Haaland is leading the race to be the top scorer in the Premier League 2022-2023. Second-placed player Harry Kane has only 13 goals, while one of last season's top scorers, Mohamed Salah, has only seven.

Man City is currently ranked second, with 35 points after 15 matches. They are five points behind Arsenal. Third place Newcastle have 33 points and fourth place Tottenham have 30 points, but have played 16 games.
