Haaland sets British record
The 3-0 victory for Man City helped Haaland increase this season's record to 45 goals, including 30 in the Premier League, 11 in the Champions League, three in the FA Cup and one in the League Cup. He surpassed Ruud van Nistelrooy (2002-2003) and Mohamed Salah (2017-2018) to set the all-time scoring record for a Premier League player.
Haaland still has up to 15 more games to improve this record. If he keeps his current performance, he will be able to score another 17 goals, bringing his season record to 62 goals. In the past few decades, only one player to do this in Europe is Lionel Messi with 73 goals in the 2011-2012 season. The best scoring record of Cristiano Ronaldo's career is 61 goals in the 2014-2015 season.
Haaland is also leading the list of goalscorers in the Champions League and Premier League, far away from the chasing opponent. In the Champions League, he scored 11 goals across seven games, a performance of 1.57 goals per game. The closest players still able to improve are Vinicius Junior and Joao Mario, scoring six goals together.
The Norwegian striker's performance this season has reached 1.15 goals per game in all competitions. In other words, his performance would drop if he only scored one goal per game, as in the win over Bayern. After seven confrontations with only draws and losses, Haaland finally won "Gray Lobster". After the match, he wrote on Twitter: "Only love, nothing else, with this tournament".
Haaland has scored 34 goals in 26 Champions League games, while Ronaldo has not scored in his first 26 games in the competition. To break CR7's record of 140 goals, Haaland needs to score 107 more. With his current performance, the Man City striker will break Ronaldo's record in 82 more games. According to Fabrizio Romano, Haaland deserves to be considered a "scoring machine".
