Haaland sets up two off-and-on terms with City

Following the same formula for leaving Borussia Dortmund and Salzburg, Norwegian striker Erling Haaland has set two release clauses in his new contract with Manchester City.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Haaland's contract cancellation fee with Manchester City will be $205 million by the summer of 2024. A year later, that figure fell to $180 million. This is a familiar clause in Haaland's previous contract. Specifically, the Norwegian striker's release from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022 was $72 million, while Salzburg's figure was $21 million.

Negotiating with City to set the clause will not be easy for female representative Rafaela Pimienta, right-hand man and partner of super agent Mino Raiola, who died in April. Moreover, the usual release clause is not allowed in the Premier League and will only be activated when certain achievements have been made.

In fact, this is still a very large amount, but many clubs can meet it. In 2017, Paris Saint-Germain spent a record $263 million to terminate Neymar's contract with Paris Saint-Germain. Real Madrid offered to buy back Kylian Mbappe's one-year contract for more than $200 million last summer. "Despite having just moved to City this summer, Haaland's future is not clear due to two release clauses," Marca commented.

Real was told that Haaland's prenatal contract broke with Dortmund, but didn't come up with an official offer for the Mbappe business. The Royal Guard also put all their faith in Karim Benzema and believe that the French advance will sustain at least two years, the progress of Vinicius and Rodrygo Real seriously vigilantes in the Haaland tomb.

Haaland made his City debut on June 13 on a five-year $460,000-a-week deal, equalling currently City's highest-paid player, Kevin De Bruyne. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League champions paid $63 million to sign Haaland, less than the release clause of his contract with Borussia Dortmund.
