Hanoi FC dominates the nomination for the Golden Ball

Besides Nguyen Van Quyet, the remaining players of the capital team nominated are center back Bui Hoang Viet Anh, midfielder Do Hung Dung, left-back Doan Van Hau and striker Pham Tuan Hai.

In particular, striker Van Quyet is considered the best candidate, thanks to his record of scoring six goals in the V-League and three in the National Cup. He has also just been awarded the best player of the V-League 2022.

Incumbent Golden Ball Nguyen Hoang Duc and 2019 Golden Ball owner Do Hung Dung are also highly appreciated, after helping Vietnam U23 win the 31st SEA Games gold medal.

Viettel finished fourth in the V-League and entered the second round of the AFC Cup, so it received four nominations, including midfielder Nguyen Hoang Duc, goalkeeper Tran Nguyen Manh, central defender Nguyen Thanh Binh and striker Nham Manh Dung. Meanwhile, the runner-up of the V-League Hai Phong has only one player, midfielder Nguyen Hai Huy. Binh Dinh, the runner-up of the National Cup, has two faces, goalkeeper Dang Van Lam and Ho Tan Tai.

In the opposite direction, HAGL has three representatives, Nguyen Tuan Anh, Nguyen Phong Hong Duy and Nguyen Van Toan, even though they only finished sixth in the V-League. Nguyen Cong Phuong was not nominated due to his lack of outstanding performance at both team and club level. He scored only five goals in the V-League and none in the AFC Champions League. Along with the same reason is Luong Xuan Truong.

All 19 nominees this year are on the list to focus on preparing for the AFF Cup 2022, so any player who shines at the upcoming tournament is likely to step up to the top podium.

In the list of women's nominations, with helping Vietnam to enter the Women's World Cup finals with the 31st SEA Games gold medal and with Ho Chi Minh City to win the National Cup and national championship double, players such as Huynh Nhu, Thuy Trang, Bich Thuy, Kim Thanh will compete for the last three positions.

The Vietnam Golden Ball Award 2022 is organized by Saigon Liberation Newspaper and is expected to be awarded in February 2023.
