Hanoi Golf wins big at National Sports Festival 2022
In addition to the gold medal for Thao My, the Hanoi delegation and Le Chuc An finished second in the women's singles, Nguyen Quang Tri took the silver and Nguyen Anh Minh received the bronze in the men's singles. In the team content, they also won gold for men and ranked 3rd for women.
Thao My finished at +6, leaving Chuc An 4 strokes behind, 9 strokes ahead of bronze medalist Nguyen Thi Van Anh of Hai Phong. Meanwhile, Quang Tri and Anh Minh shared a final score of +5 with Quang Ninh representative Do Hong Giang. All three extra holes played, in which Hong Giang won in the second round to get the gold medal. Quang Tri is ahead of Anh Minh thanks to the achievement of the last 9 holes.
Of the individual medalists, only Hong Giang and Van Anh are professional, the rest are amateurs.
The golf course of the 2022 National Sports Festival will take place from December 13 to 16, in which the first two days will be for individual stroke play for men and women. Hanoi with representatives Tran Le Duy Nhat, Anh Minh, Quang Tri entered the men's final with Nghe An - Tran Luu Son, Nguyen Huu Quyet, Nguyen Minh Tuan and won all three matches, while the women's team - Yen Vi, Chuc An also won in an overwhelming position when facing Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung and Dang Thi Thanh Diem of Ho Chi Minh City in the bronze medal match.
The final day of the tournament recorded two playoffs that decided the color of the team medal. In the men's team event, Ho Chi Minh City - with Tang Nhon Phu, Tran Lam, Khanh Hung - took the bronze medal when meeting Long An - with Nguyen Tuan Kiet, Do Quang Khanh, Pham Quoc Phuong. Golf at this year's National Sports Congress has 11 teams, 41 men and 18 women in total.
The previous session was held in 2018 on King par72 of BRG Kings Island Golf Resort in Dong Mo, Hanoi.
At that time, Duy Nhat also wore the Hanoi team shirt and brought home the individual gold medal, while teammate Thao My took the women's singles gold medal. The two then helped the home team finish first in the men's and women's teams.
