Hanoi police change coach before the final round of V-League 2023
At the beginning of the season, Cruz was on the list of CAHN assistants. By the end of April, he was promoted to replace coach Paulo Foiani who was fired due to poor performance, having taken the reins from the 7th round of phase I.
In four months, the Brazilian leader and CAHN won nine, drew two and lost two. They are at the top of the table with 37 points, two points more than the second team Hanoi FC and won the championship when the tournament only has one round left.
Cruz's head coach seat was shaken from the fourth round of phase II, in the infamous 2-1 victory over Nam Dinh at Thien Truong Stadium. That day, he did not appear in the technical area but sat in the stands and did not attend the press conference - instead, his assistant Azmin Aziz.
CAHN has since been led by Technical Director Tran Tien Dai and his assistants, winning three consecutive victories over Nam Dinh, Hanoi FC and Viettel.
New coach Tran Tien Dai was born in 1966, used to be a player of the Ho Chi Minh City Police but often a reserve. Retired, he became one of the first and famous player brokers in Vietnam. He later worked in business and then managed sports. During his career, Mr. Dai was the Executive Director of Ninh Binh Club in 2010, Xuan Thanh Saigon in the period 2012-2013. In 2018, he held the position of President of Saigon FC, but only half a year, he broke up. All three clubs are no longer active.
In the final match of the V-League 2023, CAHN received Thanh Hoa at Hang Day Stadium on August 27. However, they will not have a head coach, as Dai is banned from attending one match for receiving all three yellow cards.
If they win Thanh Hoa, CAHN will definitely win the V-League 2023. At that time, they will become the second rookie team to be crowned immediately after promotion - after HAGL in 2003. In the event of a draw, CAHN must hope for Ha. Noi FC did not win against Viettel by six goals in the match at the same time. If they lose, CAHN must pray for Viettel to hold Hanoi FC.
According to the announcement of the V-League Organizing Committee, VAR will be applied in the CAHN match against Thanh Hoa. Hanoi FC - Viettel match at My Dinh Stadium is expected to invite foreign referees, instead of applying VAR because the stadium has not yet met the requirements for testing and measuring geodetic data to integrate with technology according to FIFA regulations.
