Ho Chi Minh City opens golf tourism festival 2023

On the afternoon of March 29, the Ho Chi Minh City Golf Tourism Festival opened at Tan Son Nhat Course, with the goal of promoting the local golf tourism industry.

The festival will last for three days. This is the first time that Ho Chi Minh City has implemented a specialized activity, chaired by the Department of Tourism and coordinated with the Vietnam Golf Tourism Association (VGTA).

The main activities in the festival include a propaganda conference, training on golf tourism promotion skills, and a service introduction area for at least 20 tour companies and accommodation establishments. The program also incorporates a team hole tournament for 40 golf clubs, each consisting of 12 members.

Ho Chi Minh City currently has two traditional golf spots - four in total. From here, within a radius of 100 km, golfers can experience the service at more than 10 courses in neighboring provinces such as Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Long An, Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

According to VGTA, Ho Chi Minh City will be a candidate for the title of "Asia's Best Golf Destination" at the World Golf Awards 2023. VGTA forecasts that this year the city will welcome 500,000 golf visitors with an estimated spending of 40 million VND/person (not yet available). airfare) and by 2026 this number will reach two million.

The National Golf Tourism Development Organization also pointed out that the country's professional development is still limited by many factors such as the interest of travel businesses, human resources, product/service portfolio, application, etc. technology and taxes. On March 15, VGTA President Nguyen The Binh proposed to reduce the Special Consumption Tax to help Vietnam's golf tourism products increase their competitiveness in Southeast Asia.

VGTA is expecting the country to attract a total of two million golf visitors by 2023, reaching five million by 2026.
