Hoa Sen's best efforts still can't stop RMIT from winning the NUC 2022 in the South region
Nearly 3 weeks of the NUC 2022 qualifiers have finally come to an end with the final match of the Southern Regional Men's Final between RMIT University and Hoa Sen University. With what has shown, RMIT University is a more appreciated team with a quality and uniform lineup of players in all positions.
But Hoa Sen is not a team that can be underestimated, they overcame a team with a higher price than Ton Duc Thang in the suffocating semi-final match, moreover, the Hoa Sen women's team also just upstream won. impressive victory in the Women's Final just before that.
So the boys in blue entered the game with confidence and constantly tit-for-tat with RMIT. Despite facing the best defense of the tournament, Hoa Sen was still able to score points in excellent counterattacks and average throws with the highlight continuing to be captain Duc Long. The score of 15-14 in favor of RMIT after the first half also reflects the attractive and dramatic nature of a Final.
In the first half of the second half, both teams still performed a tit-for-tat chase, the gap only remained at 1-2 points, but in the same scenario, RMIT's team expanded and Hoa Sen shortened the score.
Everything seemed to change when in the middle of the half, striker Minh Tinh continued to show his impressive ability to throw 3 points, his shot widening the distance to 5 points. However, Hoa Sen still stubbornly chased and shortened the score to 23-24, even Duc Long with a breakthrough situation also helped the blue shirt team take the lead. However, RMIT University is still the team leading 27-25 after the first half of the match.
Entering the third half, even though the competition was not really superior to the opponent, RMIT still gradually widened the gap by better saving the opportunities to finish the basket. However, the continuous mistakes at the end of the half made the red shirt team gradually lose the game and let Hoa Sen shorten the score to 34-38.
But at a time when it seemed that Hoa Sen could pass, they were in trouble when the leading player of Hoang Anh team got a foule-trouble and had to leave the field, not finishing the 3-pointer of the striker. Minh Tinh from RMIT side helped them finish the third half with a score of 42-34.
Entering the final round, Hoa Sen showed signs of weakness while RMIT's Jamie Martin started playing explosively with consecutive scoring close to the basket. The gap quickly widened, sometimes reaching nearly 20 points.
Contrary to the first 3 innings, Hoa Sen increasingly lost himself and accepted defeat with the final score 38-55. Anyway, they are still the most successful university in the Southern qualifying round with the championship of the women's team and the runner-up of the men's team.
For RMIT, they couldn't win the championship more convincingly with the matches throughout the group stage to the Finals all playing on the opponent's basis, possessing quality players like Dinh Huy, Tan Khoa, Minh Tinh or Jamie Martin can shine at any time. With what has shown RMIT is definitely the leading candidate for the national championship taking place from 11 to 17 November.
