Indonesian team players are banned from using social networks to focus on competing at the AFF Cup 2022.

Information was revealed by Kombes team leader Pol Sumardji on Saturday, December 31, 2022. "I forbid the players to post anything on social media," Sumardji told Antara newspaper. "They can post whatever they want on social media until they win the AFF Cup 2022, but now don't try."

According to Mr. Sumardji, the decision was made so that the players could focus as much as possible for the matches at the AFF Cup 2022. Penalties were already established if players violated the rules. "Ethical sanctions are always available because this is the deal. I always remind the players about this," said Mr. Sumardji.

However, over the past time, a series of Indonesian players have posted daily activities on social networks, including pillars such as Marc Klok, Asnawi Mangkualam, Egy Maulana Vikri, Witan Sulaeman, Rizky Ridho, Jordi Amat. Mr. Sumardji said he will continue to remind players before taking more severe measures.

Indonesia has never won the AFF Cup or won the SEA Games gold medal. At the AFF Cup 2022, the national team under the guidance of coach Shin Tae-yong is expected to reach maturity and will complete the goal. Indonesian President Joko Widodo is an ardent fan of the team and always hopes for the championship. In the 1-1 draw with Thailand on December 29, Mr. Widodo went to Gelora Bung Karno Stadium to watch.

The draw result left Indonesia in second place in Group A, with the same 7 points as Thailand but less goal difference (+8 vs +9). In the final turn on January 2, 2023, Indonesia will host the Philippines, and Thailand will host Cambodia. Not only winning, both teams aim to score as many goals as possible to take the top spot.
